A solar-silo is a silo-shaped structure having a clear geodesic domed roof surrounding a solar array positioned around the inside perimeter with a clear cylindrical column containing a light refracting medium in the center of the structure.
Each geodesic segment of the clear geodesic domed roof has an attached Fresnel lens with its focal point passing through the top of the light refracting column (with only the top of the refracting column illuminated by the magnified light of the Fresnel lens). The refraction column consists of a closed clear cylindrical container, with a ...
Our off-grid tiny home designs will be on a trailer powered by solar energy and propane. The goal is to use the latest in renewable technology to create a daily living space that is equal or better in providing comfort and the convenience of a larger home. The main difference between a Solarcycle tiny home design and other tiny homes is our focus on treating the home as a thermodynamic project involving long- term tiny home living issues such as waste management, ventilation, condensation, ergonomics, accessibility, energy efficiency, insulation, safety, and manufacturability. Right now, our prototype tiny home will include an incinerator toilet, solar power storage, propane heating and cooking, an energy recovery ventilator, LED lighting, and Aerogel insulation....
Idea - Near bodies of water (oceans, lakes, rivers) where unwanted algae blooms flourish seasonally, build oil-producing manufacturing facilities which utilize algae that is deliberately produced in or near those facilities as a raw material resource.
Run these manufacturing facilities 24/7 as regular oil-producing operations and where algae is deliberately grown and then used to manufacture oil, and where the spent algae is used to produce marketable fertilizers. Then, when unwanted algae blooms appear in the adjacent bodies of water, continuously siphon off the algae-infested water, strain the unwanted algae out, return the clean water to the adjacent water body, and then "add" that "strained and unwanted algae" to the 24/7 manufacturing operations that already depend on algae ...
Sorbent Polymer Extraction and Remediation System (SPEARS) for the Green Remediation of Impacted Sediments
ecoSPEARS is a cleantech venture committed to green, sustainable remediation technologies for the permanent extraction and destruction of PCBs, dioxins, and other toxic chlorinated contaminants from the environment – forever.
71% of Earth’s surface is covered in water, of which only 3% is freshwater. Of that, less than 1% is accessible for human consumption. Freshwater is a limited resource and environmental toxins such as PCBs contaminate our water and the fish we eat.
In 2014, an EPA study found that 94% of fish tissue sampled from US waterways contained PCBs and other toxic chemicals. PCBs are now considered the most widespread contaminant in the world being used by every industrialized nation. Once PCBs into our waterways, they virtually remain ...
Oil spills occur when an offshore oil rig experiences an accident or a cargo ship capsizes. Once the oil is spilled over the surface of ocean, it is not only a disaster for marine environment, but also devastating once the spilled oil is absorbed by marine creatures and finds its way into the food chain.
ST 0IL is an intelligent spill removal fleet with its associated management system built around the idea of a fleet of mother vessel and several children vessels. When oil spills, mother vessel carries her children to the site. On arrival, the children are detached and circle around the spill for containment while the absorbent materials remove the spill. Once a child is filled, it ...
To provide a sustainable source of desalinated water from ocean surface water by having floating platforms filter, distil and collect the water, using solar energy.
Current desalination techniques require large amounts of energy to run the plants. Furthermore the waste salt creates an environmental problem via sterilisation of the land it is dumped on. My concept hopes to retain the salt within the ocean, without concentrating it in the water, by using a slow but steady method.
The platform can be used along the coastline near settlements, especially for impoverished villages, and to assist areas hit by natural disasters which have had their infrastructure destroyed.
A large scale production and installation of the platforms could ...
"Billions of people are at risk of exposure to increasingly dangerous heat conditions. They need access to cooling, but without warming the planet.
An estimated 3.3 billion room air-conditioning units will be installed in the world between now and 2050. Most of these units are inefficient and will place a significant burden on electricity grid infrastructure and consumers in developing countries. Drastic transformation of residential cooling technology through innovation can improve people’s health, productivity, and well-being, all while avoiding runaway climate change." (Source GCP)
Swirl AC can solve this future problem.
Swirl only uses water to provide cooling (and heating).
It does this using about 1/6 the power of chemical refrigerant AC.
Swirl can give 5.3kW of cooling using ...
I have a design for cities and towns that could possibly be perplexed but improve and overhaul city and town structures. I have a pretty good grasp that it would control flooding problems in most areas. Imagine a cup if you will holding water. If we can rather contain water in a cup then what stops us from more highly sustainable technology when it comes to flood walls? Heck, we could even contain water to make fresh drinking water out of it instead of recycling water so that it is fresh! My idea comes with the thought of containment of water to that of water in a cup. I have an idea of heavy 13 foot wall metal-plastic alloy ...
Terabit analyses integrates several functionalities onto a single platform: sample preparation, nucleic acid amplification and pathogen detection. It incorporates many of the required components of a typical room-sized laboratory in a small, portable device that empowers producers to perform food safety testing in the field. There is no longer need for well-equipped lab and experienced laboratory staff to precisely detect and recognize the biological threat.
Terrabio’s portable detection system will significantly reduce the time of the diagnostic procedure. It takes less than 40 minutes from sample collection to the result. Thanks to our patent pending heating technology we ware able to achieve unbeatable temperature ramping of over 20 oC/sec on heating and 15 oC/sec on cooling, while still maintaining ...
