This device would use a small camera such as used in cell phones, probably attached to an eyeglass frame to observe the anticipated path of a person of limited vision or blind. A computer would check the image for posts, stairs, walls or curbs or other objects in the pathway and provide input to a tactile device (from Australia) likely worn on the belly or back. Some patients might be able to identify objects such as chairs or tables with a little ...

In order to provide additional protection to warships from submarine and mine attack, a perimeter barrier comprised of submerged “panels” is proposed. A collection of panels creates an underwater wall that is intended to intercept and detonate the enemy warhead using their own explosive force.
A “panel” is envisioned as encasing scrap metal (c) inside a hydrodynamic shaped keel (b} which is suspended from a flotation device (a). Several panels can be towed at a time by a semi-autonomous vehicle which maintains a station-keeping position away from the warship. The panels are expendable for intercepting torpedoes and mines. Simple ...

This paper deals with one of the key challenges in designing the next generation future hybrid vehicles with Efficient Waste Heat Recovery System.
Much of the fuel energy in an internal combustion engine is lost as heat, mainly through hot exhaust gas. The high energy losses, and high temperatures of the exhaust gas, provide favorable conditions for applying a waste-heat recovery system.
Typical internal combustion engines lose about 75% of the fuel energy through the engine coolant, exhaust and surface radiation. Most of the heat generated comes from converting the chemical energy in the fuel to ...

Nearly 70% of the earth is covered by water. Only 2.5% of it is fresh & only 1% freshwater is accessible. The world is facing a scarcity of water - termed as water crisis. Wastage of water is seen and documented by various agencies. In urban lifestyle, one of the areas where water is wasted unknowingly is in gardens, terrace gardens. On terrace gardens excess water is sprayed on plants which runs off the pots. This is a huge loss of water. The intent is to control the water going to plants. This is achieved by drip irrigation, controlled ...

Problem: Heat generated from carbon-based fuel combustion or nuclear reactions consumes limited resources, and creates waste products harmful to the environment and to living organisms.
Solution: An unprecedented development reveals a method that creates heat inexpensively by efficiently releasing the energy stored within water molecules. Water as a fuel presents a readily abundant, low cost source of heat energy. This heat, when used to power a steam turbine generator, produces electricity, without the environmental hazards and operational complications (obtaining, handling and delivering, for example) of using carbon-based or nuclear fuels.
Our laboratory unit demonstrates this ...
A wave-powered electrical generator (WPEG) of novel design is proposed. WPEG operates by harnessing energy from the water waves, i.e., from an environmentally friendly source of energy. Briefly, WPEG consists of a geared motor-generator, accommodated by a double-cone, which is rolling on two eccentric circular rails. Eccentricity causes a divergent-convergent effect on the rails span (Fig. 1). During a motion toward divergent rails, potential energy of the double-cone is transformed into the kinetic energy of rotation and translation, i.e., into the energy associated to the “spin” of the double-cone around its axis of symmetry, and to the “revolution” of ...

In the United States, about 48 million people are deaf or hard of hearing. These numbers are expected to double in US adults alone by 2060. The current way to serve this community includes expensive hearing aids, cochlear implants, or microphones that are clipped on, worn on the speaker’s head, or passed around. These devices manipulate sound, to compensate for hearing loss.
The benefit of helping people see to hear – When we lose one of our senses, those remaining become more powerful. How can we use these ‘superpowers’ to our advantage? Through our patent pending technology, locating sound ...

The objective of the project is to make an assistive limb to assist human beings in some or other activity, eliminating human errors and increasing productivity. The most common activity humans perform, be it a soldier or an industrial worker or a rural woman, is weight lifting and that is what we aim to target. The idea is to make an exoskeleton which will help human beings lift heavy weights without feeling any load/stress on the human muscle. The prototype made when worn by a human can successfully lift up to additional 40kgs with the one arm.
The exoskeleton is ...
Wearable Power Modules (WPM) is a modular solution to enhancing human muscle capability with clean engine power while batteries don't have enough energy density for heavy tasks. WPM is designed to collaborate with mobile data services (IoT/M2M) and extend wearable technology for power applications. Centerpiece of WPM is the ultralight power module (PM). PM outputs pneumatic power, it empowers various modular tool adapters. For mobility concern, it could be used for pneumatic powered bike, skateboard, wheelchair or exoskeleton; other applications could cover power hand tools, emergency rescue tools, sport equipment, etc. (Fig. 1).
The power module (PM) uses propane/butane ...

In the sales company, we often find the problem as follows
1. The stock of goods that are not appropriate.
2. The product is out of date.
The first problem usually occurs because of the lack of accuracy of labor when receipt of goods or goods issued. Certain cases are usually in complete packaging, the content of the reduced product also sometimes occurs.
The second problem occurs due to the lack of worker attention until it expires. This happens because the amount of expiration printed on the packaging can not be read clearly ...
