The Energy Information Administration of the US Department of Energy reported the electrical consumption of the US in 2001 as 1,140 billion kilo-watts/hr.

Proposed Airplane Fuel Tank Modification
The basic concept for the modification is a series of pressurized rectangular pouches of blastproof acrylic fabric, such as Kevlar, which are affixed (epoxied?) to the top and bottom outer surfaces of the plane’s wing fuel tanks, as well as on the central fuel tank in the bottom center of the fuselage.
This is a prop speed reduction gearbox I designed and built for an LS1 V8 engine. I needed to reduce the nose weight to move the aircraft's CG back. I was also motivated to reduce the overall powerplant weight, to get it under the existing certified 6 cylinder opposed engines.
This is a new concept in renewable energy production, called AirWatt. It can produce much more electrical power per unit area of land than solar, wind, or hydro power plants. Whereas solar works only during sunlight hours, the AirWatt power plant can usually run 24 hours per day in appropriate locations.
